After having seen the magic Cold Theatre 7 created on stage from the audience on so many occasions, I knew I would leap at the opportunity to be a part of that magic on stage, should the opportunity present itself. Thus, when the casting call was made for 12 Angry (Wo)men in early 2017, it was a no brainer – I had to give it a shot. A shot I did give; a chance they did take; and what ensued was an absolutely rewarding experience! It gave me the opportunity to act alongside both some of the industry’s veterans but also exceptionally gifted young talent, both of whom challenged me to push myself and explore more of my competencies. But what I appreciated the most was the freedom the director gave every single player to bring their own interpretation of their respective characters to life. This challenged each and every member of the cast to analyse their lines deeper, look at them from different perspectives and bring out the subtle nuances of meaning that lie hidden in plain sight in what is one of the greatest scripts written for stage. Besides that, I am ever grateful for some of the friendships I had the privilege of making, which have now been forged into strong bonds – ones which will no doubt bring me back to the CT 7 stage, someday, when the visionaries behind the brand choose to once again reinvent themselves and push the envelope further. More power to this team!
